As part of the NANoREG project financed by the European Commission (NIA is an active partner and work package leader in NANoREG), the Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission has published the NANoREG Harmonised Terminology for Environmental Health and Safety Assessment of Nanomaterials

In December, NIA issued our opinion on the JRC's recent report, Towards A Review of the EC Recommendation for a definition of the term 'nanomaterial", which compiled our view on the feasibility and scientific grounding of the diverse options described by the JRC.
