On 17 April 2013 the NIA officially became a Category A liaison member for the International Organization for Standardization’s (ISO) Technical Committee on Nanotechnologies (TC/229). Votes were cast by 30 of the committee’s members; there were 24 yes votes, which easily surpassed the 2/3 voting requirement
