NIA Director-General Dr Steffi Friedrichs recently participated in a European Commission (EC) nanosafety ‘mission’ to Brazil. Dr Friedrichs was one of 11 coordinators of EU-funded projects invited to the country by the Brazilian government.
“The Brazilian government is following very closely what we are doing in Europe. Our companies are also following what is happening in Brazil because it is a market for them,” commented Dr Friedrichs in a recent interview with ChemicalWatch. She attended on behalf of the NANoREG project, presenting the project’s research programme before asking Brazilian policy-makers if they would like to contribute to the project in some way: “We will then work with Brazil on nanosafety testing”.
The delegation toured Brazilian research laboratories from 22-26 September 2014.
